One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson starred as an extra in a British television series before he was famous and footage of him discovering a dead body has now emerged online.

The heartthrob appeared in the ITV drama 'If I Had You' back in 2006 and a clip featuring him has been uploaded to the internet, in which he can be seen stumbling upon a wide-eyed corpse at a secluded lake area.

In the brief cut, Tomlinson skims stones with friends before the young gang's leader calls them all over to inspect a cadaver.

The One Direction lads have finally returned home from their extensive tour of the USA and on July 2 he tweeted a public message to tell his 4.2 million followers that he had a fantastic time in America:

"Guys it been an amazing tour. Wow thank you so much to everyone! We love you! X".
