As the opening ceremony for the 2012 London Olympic Games creeps closer, One Direction's Niall Horan has revealed his excitement for the international sporting event.

The Irish heartthrob took to social networking site Twitter earlier this afternoon (July 27) and told his 5.2 million followers that if there was an "egg and spoon race" he would probably win:

"Do they have an egg and spoon race in the olympics! I wana try! Always did well at sports day!"

"Dont know if its just me, but the excitement in london is unbelievable! Its gona be a great games."

'What Makes You Beautiful' songwriter Savan Kotecha saw his message and joked: "@NiallOfficial Is that just cuz you wanna eat the egg at the end? you know you could just buy an egg right?"

Horan's bandmate Harry Styles, on the other hand, doesn't seem to share his enthusiasm as he tweeted a photograph of an empty London road (pictured below) painted with the Olympic rings that he accompanied with the telling caption, "Grr...".
