New X Factor promo shows One Direction heartthrobs as children in home video footage

The One Direction lads started out their impressive career as contestants on The X Factor and have now come full circle as they star in a new promotional video for the well-loved television show.

Posted to YouTube a few days ago (July 27), this new clip created by the popular talent contest's team briefly documents the individual journeys of the 'One Thing' superstars from youngsters to the internationally respected pop sensations they have now become.

Niall Horan can be heard saying "I played Oliver in a school musical when I was about 10" as footage of him on stage in the lead role of the singing orphan is shown on the screen.

Member Harry Styles recalls joining a band with his classmates and Zayn Malik (pictured above left) explains that a music teacher encouraged him to apply for The X Factor's auditions round.

One Direction took to their official Twitter page earlier today (July 30) and shared the video with their followers, writing: "Directioners! Have you all seen the brand new @thexfactor ad feat the boys? If not check it out! 1DHQx #WhoseTimeIsNow"
