One Direction lads urge British diver Tom Daley to ignore online abuse

The One Direction lads have been actively commenting on the 2012 Olympic Games since the opening ceremony took place on July 27, and they have now spoken out in support of British diver Tom Daley.

The talented 18-year-old was subjected to abusive tweets, one of which even led to an arrest and extensive newspaper coverage earlier this week, after finishing fourth in the men's 10-metre synchronised event and several of the 'One Thing' heartthobs have urged Daley (pictured below) to ignore the comments as he did everyone proud.

Member Liam Payne tweeted (July 30): "@TomDaley1994 ignore them dikheads mate we all sat and watched you today and we thought u did incredible."

He later returned to the social networking site and added: "Really enjoyed watching the diving today! :)"

Louis Tomlinson also sent the sportsman a public message and wished him well for the competition: "@TomDaley1994 mate, best of luck for the individual. I'll be watching!!"
