One Direction star Zayn Malik caused a stir on Twitter last night (August 12) after sporting a new hairdo at the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.

The quintet performed their hit track 'What Makes You Beautiful' at the massive event at London's Olympic Stadium as the Games came to an end.

Niall Horan called the gig the "highlight of their career" as they performed to a gigantic worldwide TV audience.

It was Zayn Malik, however, who caught most of the attention as he unveiled a blonde quiff.

One fan tweeted to Malik: "Forever crying because the blonde in your hair looks so freaking perfect."

Someone else meanwhile said: "Zayn malik looked perf at the closing ceremony tonight tho omg his highlights in his hair just o m g."

Other acts performing on the night included Jessie J, George Michael and the Spice Girls, who reunited for the ceremony.
