One Direction star Zayn Malik has revealed one of his favourite perks of being in a band - plush hotel rooms.

The singer has gone from being an unknown X Factor wannabe in 2010 to a global touring star as One Direction travel the world as one of pop's biggest draws.

Malik said that one of his favourite things about touring is the chance of landing lavish hotel rooms.

He added that he doesn't care about his backstage rider as long as he gets the "biggest and most comfortable" bed in the hotel. Malik said:

"I'm not bothered about what we get before or after shows as long as our room is comfortable. If I can sleep well, then everything is going to be OK. To me, after any day, I just want the biggest, most comfortable bed in our hotel. It is one of the best things about being in the band – getting nice hotel rooms."
