One Direction have been confirmed to perform at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards later this year.

The popular boyband will play the grand event at London's Wembley Arena on October 7, with Taylor Swift, Little Mix and Conor Maynard also announced to perform.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by new BBC Radio 1 breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw as the radio station celebrates the best in youth culture.

One Direction performed at last year's event, joining the likes of Cher Lloyd and Ed Sheeran on the bill.

Other acts playing the 2012 awards are due to be announced soon and free tickets for the event will be available on the Teen Awards website from September 22.
