Niall Horan: 'Zayn persuaded me to stay in LA after the VMAs for a short holiday'

One Direction's Irish heartthrob Niall Horan spent part of his 19th birthday (September 13) doing an interview with 98FM's Dermot & Dave, and talked about how the lads celebrated their VMAs success.

Speaking from the station's 'Big Red Bus', the 'One Thing' singer explained that after they picked up 3 gongs at the star-studded ceremony, Zayn Malik suggested they should stay in Los Angeles a bit longer as a reward to themselves:

"A couple of the boys are on holidays. Zayn's in London and Harry's in London, too, I think. We spent an extra couple of days in LA - me and Zayn - after the VMAs."

"After we won the first VMA we went into the dressing room and Zayn turns round to me and says, "there's no way we can win an MTV Video Music Award and go home so let's just stay for another couple of days"."

When asked if he wanted to give his fans a message, he said: "A massive thank you for all the support. I know I don't get back to Ireland a lot, but when I do come back I appreciate it more than I did when I was here."

The presenters then read out a fan's question, which was "why are you so gorgeous Nialler?", to which he replied cheekily: "Go downstairs and ask my mother!"
