One Direction break VEVO record held by Justin Bieber

Boyband One Direction have smashed a record previously held by Canadian sensation Justin Bieber in VEVO video views.

The lads unveiled their brand new music video for 'Live While We're Young' last Thursday (September 20) and it attracted a staggering amount of hits upon its release, but video hosting site VEVO has now confirmed that it had more views in a 24-hour period than Justin Bieber achieved with 'Boyfriend' so they are now the title holders:

"After counting/re-counting all the @VEVO numbers, happy to say @onedirection broke Bieber's 24hr record w/ 8.24 Million views!! #LWWYonVEVO. It was close, but you did it, #Directioners! Nice work! #LWWYonVEVO @onedirection 8.24 Million in 24 hours!"

The accompanying visuals for 'Live While We're Young' have continued to be incredibly popular and since the cut dropped it has had a phenomenal 26,828,175 views (September 26).
