One Direction’s new single tops iTunes chart less than 24 hours after going on sale

One Direction’s new single, 'Live While We’re Young,' has reached the top of the iTunes chart less than 24 hours of going on sale.

The boyband’s first release from their second album, 'Take Me Home,' was made available to download first thing this morning and quickly rocketed up the charts to knock PSY’s 'Gangnam Style' off the number one spot.

The track had already become the fastest-selling pre-order in history with over 100,000 sales, and is on course to repeat the success of debut single, 'What Makes You Beautiful,' which reached number one in the official charts last year.

Other new releases today include Rihanna’s 'Diamonds,' Ellie Goulding's 'Anything Could Happen' and Kendrick Lemar's 'Swimming Pools (Drank).'
