One Direction star Liam Payne has spoken about his striking new haircut.

The singer was snapped recently sporting a close to the bone hairdo that was devoid of his flowing locks.

Some people had speculated that it was due to his recent split with former girlfriend Danielle Peazer last week.

The group appeared on ITV morning show Daybreak today (October 5) and the subject of Payne's hair cropped up.

Louis Tomlinson brought up his bandmate's hair after seeing it in the monitor, to which Payne said:

"I just fancied it for the day."

One Direction were also asked if their friendship with Justin Bieber was "showbiz" or "real", with the band looking coy and saying "Umm" before stating that is a real friendship rooted in show business.
