One Direction named the most popular X Factor act of all time

Boyband One Direction have topped the all-time social impact chart for an X Factor act, according to a new poll.

The 'Live While We're Young' heartthrobs came out on top in all forms of popular social network activity, including Facebook 'likes', YouTube video views and Twitter followers, and social chart Starcount explained that the lads earned a score of 117.5 million points formed from all aspects of their online presence.

The No.2 position on the Top 10 countdown went to Leona Lewis while Cher Lloyd and Little Mix came in third and fourth respectively. Other acts to feature in the chart include Matt Cardle, cheeky duo Jedward and 'You Bring Me Joy' songstress Amelia Lily.

The Top 10 list is as follows:

3. Cher Lloyd (26m points)
4. Little Mix (9.7m points)
5. Matt Cardle (5.8m points)
6. X Factor Australia (4.4m points)
