One Direction score midweek No.1 album with 'Take Me Home'

Heartthrobs One Direction stormed the UK Top 40 this afternoon (November 14) with their new album, 'Take Me Home'.

The record shot into the No.1 position during today's midweek update and is already on course to become the fastest selling album of 2012 after shifting an impressive 94,000 copies since its release.

Mumford & Sons currently hold that title with a tally of 158,000 copies sold after the first week.

Rod Stewart's 'Merry Christmas Baby' debuted just behind the lads at No.2, 'Grrr!' by the Rolling Stones made a respectable appearance at No.3, and Green Day's '¡Dos!' is another new entry at 4. 

Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' has climbed 31 places to sit at No.7, Ed Sheeran's major label debut '+' has risen 22 positions to No.10, and Christina Aguilera has entered at 18 with her new offering, 'Lotus'.
