Zayn Malik's mum thinks Perrie Edwards would be the "perfect daughter-in-law".

The One Direction hunk and the Little Mix star went public with their romance earlier this year, and have appeared loved-up ever since.

The couple's families get on swimmingly too, and Malik's mum Patricia has gushed about formally welcoming Edwards into her family in the future.

Speaking to Heat magazine she said: "She would be a perfect daughter-in-law."

She added: "I don't think we'll be seeing a proposal anytime soon, because they both want to focus on their careers."

Patricia also revealed how Malik was blown away by Edwards after watching her on last year's The X Factor - where she went on to win with Little Mix.

She explained: "She's lovely though. Zayn saw her on the telly and knew he liked her - he just had to convince her."

She continued: "Our families are each other's families now."

Edwards - who is sporting new lilac locks - flew out to New York City to support her beau at One Direction's hotly-anticipated Madison Square Garden gig last night (December 3).
