One Direction to take over UK radio station

One Direction are one of the acts set to take over UK radio station The Hits over New Year.

They will be joined by The Wanted and JLS as the station dedicates five days to boybands.

Each member of One Direction will host an afternoon show between December 31 and January 4 inclusive, starting off with Liam Payne on New Year's Eve.

Speaking about the takeover, Harry Styles said: "We started 2012 taking over The Hits Radio, and it's great to be doing the same again to start 2013."

The Wanted meanwhile will host a mid-morning each show week, with JLS presenting four early morning slots.

Monday, December 31
11am: Nathan Sykes (The Wanted)
2pm: Liam Payne (One Direction)

Tuesday, January 1
8am: Aston Merrygold (JLS)
11am: Siva Kaneswaran (The Wanted)
2pm: Niall Horan (One Direction)

Wednesday, January 2
8am: JB Gill (JLS)
11am: Jay McGuinness (The Wanted)
2pm: Zayn Malik (One Direction)

Thursday, January 3
8am: Oritsé Williams (JLS)
11am: Tom Parker (The Wanted)
2pm: Louis Tomlinson (One Direction)

Friday, January 4
8am: Marvin Humes (JLS)
11am: Max George (The Wanted)
