One Direction's Harry Styles admits he had an embarrassing "birds and the bees" lecture from his grandmother just three weeks ago.

The British heartthrobs - comprising Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - have gained a loyal female following after shooting to fame on The X Factor in 2010.

Extra joined the band at SiriusXM's 'Artist Confidential' series to talk dating and romance, and when asked if they ever had the embarrassing "birds and the bees talk" since being on the road with the group, Malik revealed: "I think I got one of those from my dad, even before I was in the band. I got one of those embarrassing speeches, I think everybody gets that from their parents."

Styles went one step further and admitted: "My grandma gave me one three weeks ago. It was just too much. It was about three weeks ago. I was like 'You can just stop there!'"

The boys also described their perfect first dates. While Styles explained that he goes down the "classic and simple" route with dinner and a movie, Horan revealed her prefers something a bit more light-hearted.

He said: "I like a theme park. You're going through the same things at the same time, it's quite fun. Instead of sitting there looking at each other and being awkward over dinner."
