One Direction scoop 'Best International Group' gong at French NRJ Awards

One Direction have thanked fans for their continued support following their win at the NRJ Music Awards in France last night.

The heartthrobs - comprising Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - attended the annual ceremony at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on Saturday evening (January 26), which takes place ahead of the music industry conference, MIDEM.

The band performed their newest single 'Kiss You' before scooping the gong for 'Best International Group'.

Horan took to his Twitter page after the show to gush to fans: "Thank you so much guys! For voting for us! Bed international group ! Thank you so much ! NRJ music awards.

He added: "Cannes thank your for today ! We had a lot of fun! French fans thanks alot for the award! gona sit lovely beside the TV (sic)."

Styles wrote on the social networking site: "Thank you so much to @NRJhitmusiconly and our fans for the award!! See you later .xx.”

Other NRJ Music Awards winners included Carly Rae Jepsen for 'International Breakthrough of the Year',  Rihanna for 'International Female Artist of the Year', while 'Gangnam Style' star Psy scooped three awards including 'International Song of the Year' and 'Music Video of the Year'.

Country songstress Taylor Swift also took to the stage at the awards ceremony. The stunning star - who was rumoured to be dating One Direction hunk Styles up until recently - sang a rendition of 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'.

Dressed in a black lace ensemble with knee high boots, the singer looked a picture of sassiness as she strutted on stage.

Earlier in the night, she wowed on the red carpet in an embellished gold minidress with matching strappy heels.

International superstar Alicia Keys - who was accompanied by husband Swizz Beatz - made an entrance on the red carpet in a sexy cut-out black dress which showed off her trim figure to perfection.
