One Direction have dismissed rumours that Harry Styles has asked for protection from gunmen.

The singer is one of the most recognisable stars in pop music at the moment and has become a global icon.

However, it had been reported that Styles was seeking gun protection - such as an armour-plated car - whilst in the US.

The report added that the 'Kiss You' star also thought he might be on the end of backlash from fans after having a fling with Taylor Swift.

However, a spokesman has dismissed the story, confirming that it is "complete rubbish".
