One Direction have teamed up with Madame Tussauds to create a series of waxwork models.

The popular boyband will be immortalised in figure form by the legendary company, who will then tour the life-size waxworks around the world.

The exhibition will kick off in London from April 18 to July 11 before the models travel to New York until October 11.

They will then be on show in Sydney from October 24 to January 28 2013.

The blurb on the Madame Tussauds website reads: "At Madame Tussauds there are no ropes, no guards, no 'miles from the stage'. Forget the front row…at Madame Tussauds you get next to the band. Get the perfect Facebook profile photo...with the 1D boys!"

A series of photos have also been uploaded by Tussauds of the boys being measured up for the wax creations.
