One Direction single honoured by RIAA for going 4x Platinum in US

One Direction's hit single 'What Makes You Beautiful' has been honoured by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The track was released in the US in March 2012 and it enjoyed a massively warm response from fans as the British group made inroads in America.

The song has now been recognised with a multi-Platinum award by the RIAA after it recently hit four million sales in the US, going 4x Platinum.

Other acts who have received fresh recognition from the RIAA include P!nk, whose 2008 album 'Funhouse' went 2x Platinum.

Rihanna's hit track 'S&M' meanwhile was honoured for going triple Platinum, as well as Bon Jovi's classic 'Livin' On A Prayer'.
