One Direction have played their "loudest" matinee gig to date as they continue to enjoy success in Australia.

The boyband are currently in the process of taking their Take Me Home tour around Australia and New Zealand.

Speaking on Twitter, singer Niall Horan said that they have just come up against their most vociferous afternoon crowd yet, revealing today (October 3):

"Well that was by far the loudest matinee we've ever done! Good job melbourne! Round 3 tonight!"

The group are due to play the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne once again tonight.

The 'Live While We're Young' quintet will return to the venue later in their tour, with dates scheduled for October 16, 17, 28, 39 and 30.
