One Direction break impressive record in Sydney

UK based boyband One Direction have set an impressive new record on their current Australian tour, after wrapping up their seventh concert at the Allphones Arena on Saturday night (October 26).

Their run of dates at the venue shifted an incredible 81,542 tickets, beating the previous record set by metal band Metallica of 74,244 tickets during their 2010 tour when the arena was under the name of Acer.

To commemorate their impressive new record, bosses at the Allphones Arena presented each member of One Direction with a “gold microphone” and unveiled the first entertainer’s “Star” in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct (pictured below).

Singer Liam Payne took to his official Twitter page earlier this morning and revealed his affection for the fans in Australia, writing: "Thank you Melbourne ace show deffo loudest so far what a great way to come towards the end also #drunktweet waheyyyy still managed to spell."
