'Story Of My Life' scores One Direction midweek No.1 single

Boyband One Direction have shot straight in at No.1 with their new single, 'Story Of My Life', during today's midweek chart update.

The track debuted at the top spot just ahead of Fatboy Slim with 'Eat Sleep Rave Repeat', which has made an impressive appearance at No.2, and The Wanted have charted at No.4 with their new offering 'Show Me Love (America)'.

The Official Charts Company has confirmed that there are only 13,000 copies separating One Direction from The Wanted at this midway point, so fans will have to check back on Sunday (November 4) to see the confirmed positions.

Elsewhere on the UK Top 40, Eminem and Rihanna's collaboration on 'The Monster' has landed at No.9, Justin Bieber's 'Recovery' is at No.15, and Lady Gaga's 'Applause' has shot up 13 places to sit at No.37 following her recent performance on 'The X Factor'

Following the sad death of icon Lou Reed (pictured below) over the weekend, two of his singles have re-entered the charts. 'Perfect Day' is at No.36 and 'Walk On The Wild Side' is at No.39 this afternoon.
