One Direction's 'Midnight Memories' on course for US No.1

One Direction are expected to land another US No.1 with their new record 'Midnight Memories'.

The boyband unleashed their third effort worldwide on November 25 and it has been selling well across the globe.

Industry bible Billboard have reported that the album is expected to sell 500,000 units in its first week in the States, with that total possibly rising to 525k or 550k.

That means it should top the US albums chart and give the British-Irish group their third consecutive No.1 record in the country.

Their debut effort 'Up All Night' shifted 176,000 in its first week whilst 2012's 'Take Me Home' sold 540,000 over the same time period.

If 'Midnight Memories' hits No.1, One Direction will become the first group in the US since 1967 to have three chart-topping albums in a row. That feat was last achieved by the Monkees.
