Forbes confirm One Direction could end up having one of the top grossing tours in history

Forbes have lent weight to suggestions that One Direction's upcoming world stadium jaunt could become of the most lucrative tours ever.

The British-Irish boyband are due to play a number of shows across the globe next year on their Where We Are run.

It was previously mooted that the tour could become of the highest-grossing live concert shows in history.

Financial bible Forbes have calculated that as it stands, the tour's 65 shows could rake in a total of $314.6 million.

Based on those figures, the Where We Are jaunt would become the eighth top grossing tour of all time.

U2's 110-show 360 tour tops the list with takings of $736.4 million whilst they are followed by The Rolling Stones and Roger Waters.

It has been suggested, however, that more shows could be added to One Direction's 2014 tour - a move sure to further boost their coffers.
