OneRepublic have spoken out in praise of X Factor winner Ben Haenow.

The singer won the show at the weekend and he released a cover of the band's 'Something I Need' as his winner's single.

It is on course to top the UK singles chart this weekend and it seems OneRepublic have been impressed by Haenow.

The singer posted on Twitter: "Thanks to @OneRepublic for the honour of letting me release their song #SomethingINeed as my first single!!!"

The band, who are led by Ryan Tedder, replied: "U made it your own man!!!! Congrats on everything and thanks for picking our tune & sending it to #1! Ur killin!! Happy holidays (sic)."
