DETROIT, MI — On Friday, May 9, The Lager House in Detroit will host a night of heartfelt songwriting, soul-stirring vocals, and captivating storytelling as Jon Hayes & The Company take the stage, opening for rising indie artist Lucas Powell, with special guest Josie Pamer also on the bill. Doors open at 7PM.

Hailing from Kalamazoo, Jon Hayes has built a reputation for emotionally resonant performances and songs that feel like heart-to-heart conversations. Often compared to John Mayer for his soulful tones and guitar chops, Hayes also draws influence from the introspective stylings of Bon Iver and the anthemic depth of NEEDTOBREATHE. Jon's journey to this stage has been anything but linear. From breakdancing to DC Talk as a kid, to fronting garage bands with his brother, to stepping away from music altogether in a period of spiritual reckoning, his story is one of resilience and rediscovery. In 2018, encouraged by his soon-to-be wife and a renewed sense of purpose, Jon returned to music with his debut single “Temporary,” launching a new chapter that has since taken him across the Midwest and Northeast stages, including Creation Festival and Soul Fest.

His 2023 full-length album, Between You & Me, is the culmination of years of growth and healing. Recorded in basements and living rooms with a community of close collaborators, the album captures the beauty, struggle, and quiet victories of everyday life. Songs like “Nursery Lie”—a haunting meditation on childhood trauma that reached over 10,000 streams in its first six months—have made Jon a standout in the indie folk scene, earning placements on playlists such as Indie Folk Central and Mahogany Coffee House.
