DJ Paul Van Dyk Criticizes Madonna's "Molly" Remark

DJ Paul van Dyk has criticized Madonna for a comment she recently made whilst on stage at a music festival.

Fellow DJ Deadmau5 was the first to lament her use of the word 'molly' - slang for ecstasy - which Madonna promptly denounced on Twitter.

The Queen of Pop took to the social networking website to clarify that she in was in fact referring to a song, stating that she has "never supported drug use".

However, van Dyk told Billboard that he thinks Madonna has shot herself in the foot with the on-stage remark. He said: "I don't think she was thinking much. The only thing she was probably thinking was, 'I need to connect with a young crowd,' and she made the biggest mistake of her career."

He added: "Madonna was so stupid to actually call out drug abuse in front of a crowd of 18-year-olds. This is not what our music is about. It's really counterproductive."
