Pete Doherty facing possible jail time

Pete Doherty is facing the possibility of a prison sentence after pleading guilty to cocaine possession yesterday, April 8.

The Libertines star appeared at Snaresbook Crown Court and changed his plea following his initial trial back in February. The death of filmmaker Robin Whitehead in 2010 and subsequent investigations into what happened prompted Doherty's charge and the NME confirmed that he plead guilty.

BBC News reported that Doherty was given unconditional bail and had to return to court on May 20 for sentencing. Doherty recently starred in a movie entitled 'Confession of a Child of the Century' and The Guardian was given an exclusive peek at the finished product, praising the musician's acting chops:

"appears to be doing what he does best: mooching around appearing doleful and wrecked – emotionally, on this particular occasion – and peppering his dolorous sighing with poetic interludes."
