Pharrell Williams' Grammys hat sells for $44,000

Pharrell Williams has sold his infamous Grammys hat for over $44,000 (£26,294).

The US singer turned heads recently at the Grammy Awards in January by wearing a large mountain style hat.

The piece of headwear soon become an internet joke and the hat became one of the most talked about subjects from the ceremony.

He recently put the Vivienne Westwood hat up for auction on eBay to raise money for charity From One Hand to Another.

Restaurant chain Arby's bought the piece for $44,100 (£26,353) and Williams took to Twitter to say:

"Thank you to whoever bought my Grammy hat on @eBay for $44,100. Your donation benefits From One Hand To AnOTHER."

The chain, whose logo looks similar to the hat, quipped: "You're welcome. We're HAPPY to support a great cause & get our hat back."
