Pharrell Williams has been confirmed to perform at this year's MTV EMAs.

The singer will hit the stage at the event in Milan on October 25.

He is the first name announced for the ceremony, which will be hosted by Ed Sheeran and Ruby Rose.

MTV commented: "Pharrell is no stranger to the EMAs - he performed at the show in 2004 with Nelly and 2006 with Snoop Dogg, as well as appearing as a presenter three times over the years.

"This year, not only is he nominated for Best Male and Best Video (for 'Freedom'), but Mr Williams will be rocking our world with an unforgettable live performance."

Taylor Swift meanwhile dominates the EMAs nominations with a record-breaking nine nods.
