Pitbull and Kesha's 'Timber' hit with $3m copyright lawsuit

Pitbull and Kesha's hit song 'Timber' is at the centre of a $3m (£1.77m) copyright lawsuit.

Songwriting trio Lee Oskar, Keri Oskar and Greg Errico claim that the harmonica theme in the 2013 song is the same as the one in their 1978 track 'San Francisco Bay'.

The 'Timber' harmonica was played by Paul Harrington and the trio allege that he was told to copy the 'San Francisco Bay' riff.

They admit that label Sony "might have obtained a license" with regards to using their song, but they say they didn't receive permission from the actual songwriters themselves.

They are seeking $3million in damages and they claim they haven't made any money from the success of 'Timber'.
