Plan B reveals that failure of first album spurred him onto make iLL Manors film

Plan B has revealed that the disappointing sales of his first album spurred him onto make his directorial debut, ‘iLL Manors.’

The 28-year-old rapper, whose semi-autobiographical tale of crime and violence in London will hit cinemas on June 6, told The Scotsman that the commercial failure of 2006’s ‘Who Needs Actions When You Got Words’ made him realise why he became an artist:

“I felt that these subjects I was talking about were being ignored by society and I didn’t want people to ignore them anymore. I wanted people to address them and make a difference. I don’t care about the success and the money and the bullshit. All I want to do is be an artist.”

The ‘She Said’ star, who recently revealed he is happy to be a spokesman for the youth of today, went onto admit that whilst he was initially bitter and angry about the record’s lack of success, he now realises it was a blessing in disguise:

“And I tell you what, if it had happened, my ego would have been out of control and you would have been here talking to a f****** a***hole.”
