Maceo Plex drops 'Don't do XTC anymore' by Spec X at Awakenings FestivalSpec X - Don't Do XTC Anymore EPOut July 27th on Infamous TracksOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY PullProxy Spec X graces the techno scene with his latest EP Don’t Do XTC Anymore. Due out via his own imprint, Infamous Tracks, he delivers three variation of the cheeky title track and closes out with the upbeat and danceable “Ghost Drums”. The original mix of “Don’t Do XTC Anymore” highlights the producer’s hypnotic voice droning over a pulsing ambient beat. The full vocal mix delivers a more percussive sound with haunting whispers preluding the chanted lyric. The acapella mix presents a muted orchestral sound that evolves into a Moog-y synth-like intro to the vocal. The EP closes out with the above mentioned “Ghost Drums” original mix. Whether “Don’t Do XTC Anymore” expresses a sincere aversion to the club drug, or is an ironic homage to short-lived morning-after “never again” resolutions, this final track serves as a light-hearted juxtaposition to the former mixes. Don’t Do XTC Anymore is set to release on July 27 under Spec X’s Stuttgart-based Infamous Tracks label in digital format.
