Queen say Adam Lambert 'fitted in beautifully' during tour

Queen drummer Roger Taylor believes Adam Lambert has slotted into the band "beautifully".

The group toured with the the singer earlier this year in countries like the US and Australia, with European dates set for next year.

Speaking in a new interview with Billboard, Taylor said that Lambert is the right fit for the group as he fills the big shoes of the late Freddie Mercury.

He said: "[The European dates] will be interesting for Adam because I think he's more known in the States and places like Australia than he is in Europe."

"But it's been fantastic everywhere. Every night, every place we went, the reception was tremendous and that was a delightful surprise just to think that after all these years we can still go out and do it. But it was great with Adam, I have to say. He really fitted in beautifully."

The UK leg of Queen's European tour meanwhile will open in Newcastle on January 13.
