Queen: 'We ain't a tribute band'

Queen have dismissed accusations that they are now akin to a "tribute band".

The group's original singer Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991 and they previously enlisted Paul Rodgers as a vocalist.

The Brits - minus original bassist John Deacon - are now working with US star Adam Lambert.

However, drummer Roger Taylor told the Sunday Telegraph that Queen aren't just going through the motions in the absence of Mercury.

He said: "We ain't a tribute band, that's a no-brainer.

"We built Queen, we lived and breathed it, it is part of us and we are part of it."

Queen and Lambert meanwhile will launch their upcoming UK tour in Newcastle this week (January 13).
