Celebrating Queen’s unique love affair with Japan, Queen Exhibition: Bohemian Rhapsody which first goes on display in Tokyo January 15, 2020, has been meticulously curated to highlight the special bond that has existed between the band and Japanese fans since Queen first arrived in Tokyo in April 1975.

Working with Queen, the exhibition is produced by CreativeMan, Shinko and TV Asahi in association with Universal Music Japan and Queen Productions Ltd.

The exhibition traces the history of Queen since it formed in 1971 when John Deacon joined Brian May, Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor in the band through to 1992 when the remaining members of Queen returned to London’s Wembley Stadium to play at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert alongside some of the world’s biggest music artists in a historic event which led to the founding of the Mercury Phoenix Trust - fighting AIDS worldwide.

Highlighting 45 years of the glorious history of Queen, the exhibition will unveil many rare and previously unseen historical land markers including 11 original band costumes shipped from Europe and a precious collection of never before seen photographs from the Shinko Music Publishing archive documenting behind the scenes moments from the band’s first visit to Japan in1975 to its final tour in 1985. Bringing it up to the most recent date, it will also celebrate the success in Japan of the band’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ film where Japanese audiences delivered the film’s biggest world takings outside of the USA.

Through immersive audio & visual archives, costumes, and historic imagery, Queen Exhibition: Bohemian Rhapsody provides a unique view into the special relationship held between Queen and Japan.

Brian May - "I hope you’ll enjoy the exhibition. And I hope it makes you feel closer to us."

Roger Taylor - "I think Queen fans are going to have a really good surprise."
