I’m here at a vibrant and very exciting new Queen exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. It is very different to anything I’ve ever experienced before, on every conceivable level, and has been a pleasure and privilege to be part of.

Everyone is reacting well to the exhibits, particularly the authentic Queen stage costumes, and.... for obvious reasons... the Teo Torriatte handwritten song lyrics from 1976. Though it’s Brian’s song, these lyrics are in Freddie’s hand and the people here are loving them. Their faces literally light up when they see these rare treasures. If only Freddie were here to see the incredible reaction to these things and to the entire Queen Japanese story being offered here in such great style.

I met Freddie’s bodyguard this morning, Mr Itami. He looked after Freddie during every tour Queen did here, from ‘75 to ‘85. He is a wonderful man and he showed us the watch and sword that Freddie gifted him as thank You’s back in the day for his loyal service. This was one of the many highlights of my trip so far.

There are many fans here telling me their lovely stories and sharing anecdotes of seeing Queen in Japan 40 years ago. Amazing!!!

I’ll report back again in a few days time when I have more stories to tell.

Sayonara for now
