Electro-swing innovator, Jamie Berry, is diverging from the vintage sound he has developed so intensely with the release of his latest single, ‘Bolder’, which takes on a more house-pop vibe, also featuring the vocal talents of Georgia Thursting.

Originally hailing from Lincolnshire, Jamie Berry has found a home for himself for the past six years in the vibrant musical hub of Leeds, focusing on honing 20s and 30s swing-influenced sounds into a more contemporary house music format. However, for ‘Bolder’, Berry has joined forces with Georgia Thursting, a talented young songwriter who merges soul and R&B influences with an affinity for raw lyricism and her tales of blind love and relationship challenges will certainly add a new edge to Jamie’s work.

Taken from the upcoming album, Frenzy, ‘Bolder’ exhibits a distinct reggae sound with Jamie’s classic electronic instrumentation that makes for a groove-heavy track that is only ameliorated by Thursting’s enticing and infectious vocals on the chorus line. Jamie commented that ‘the aim of this single was to keep elements of the electro-swing genre while also moving to a wider audience’.

Jamie has built a reputation for himself by coupling modern-shuffle beats with vintage swing sounds, but ‘Bolder’ departs somewhat from this style, allowing Jamie to display his versatility as an artist and appeal to new listeners simultaneously. However,  his idiosyncratic sound piques your interest while his heavier, wobbling bass lines take things up a gear or two, continuously drawing people back to his unique sound. Taking inspiration from the wide-ranging likes of Flume, Toots and The Maytals, Human League and Blondie, Jamie’s music encapsulates an eclectic sound that reaches out to a number of different audiences.

In just five short years, Jamie is now a regular on the circuit, boasting home-grown tours in the UK, featuring at both Beat-Herder and Boom-Town Festivals, whilst he has also played all over the world in locations as diverse as Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and toured in Australia and Canada.

Since 2011, Jamie has been signed to independent label, Flak Records, and he has released a respectable selection of EPs and singles, including ‘Delight’ which has racked up over 3 million Spotify streams, 15,000 sales and over 100 million combined plays on Youtube.

With a number of dates lined up and more interesting collaborations in the pipeline, 2017 is set to be a career defining year for Jamie Berry when he releases his debut album Frenzy in the Autumn.
