A promising sportsman and a high-achiever academically, Adam Lanceley’s world was turned upside-down when a catastrophic car accident left him with life-changing injuries.

Doctors advised him he was unlikely to walk or talk again, should he survive. Against all odds, Adam not only proved them wrong but has taken his remarkable recovery to the extreme, running marathons and carving out a career as a singer-songwriter.

His story has been featured on Sky News and across radio around the world, as well as countless online websites. However, Adam’s struggles have never gone away. He lives each day with serious mental health issues, including PTSD, severe anxiety and depression.

His only escape is music, something he desperately wants others to recognise as a means of coping with mental health conditions, an illness which has affected so many over recent lockdowns.

Adam was only ten years old when the crash left him sustaining a severe brain injury, a crushed pelvis and shattered legs. Though he has largely recovered from his physical injuries, his serious mental health issues continue to impact heavily on Adam, combining to create a torturous existence, essentially trapped within himself.

Inspired by a life-long love of The Beach Boys, Adam has found solace in creating music. His prolific output sees him releasing another new album, Welcome to the Next Century, an album made purely for the love of music and the curative powers of expressing his emotions.

“The new tracks that are on this album have all been recorded since my last EP came out and all were written and recorded during lockdown. Doing this then helped me to escape some of the stress of the situation and almost take myself away to a sunnier, more care-free place. It was always intended that they would be released when the world seemed ‘brighter’ and on a more personal level, it felt like a turning point where things suddenly seemed easier”.
