Flea struggled to play bass on new Red Hot Chili Peppers album after injury

Flea, the bassist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has revealed that a snowboarding injury left him struggling to play his instrument.

He opened up about the trip to Montana that saw him break his arm in a total of five places and confessed that it was a really, really bad injury:

"We were jetting down the mountain, going, like, 50 miles an hour, when I just wiped out. It was like, bam. My arm started swelling up right away. I broke my arm in five places. Big pieces of bone were shorn off."

He went onto add that he had to relearn how to play the bass guitar following his injury because the recovery was so painful it left him struggling to use the muscles:

"I went to play one note and a bunch of pain shot up my arm. I tried to play the simplest things and my hand just wouldn't do it. It felt like I let everyone down, because we couldn't work on the record."
