As soon as the girls premiered the video, it immediately began racking up views, impressively garnering 2 million-plus plays in less than a week’s time. The girls offer up an organic collage of this year’s biggest and best pop hits. Armed with stand-up bass, a snare drum, and three heavenly voices, they breathe new life into Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” Adele’s “Hello,” Desiigner’s “Panda,” Rihanna’s “Work,” Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” The Weekend’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” Beyoncé’s “Formation,” and many more.
It continues a tradition L.E.J. began last year with “Summer 2015,” which amassed over 56 million views and counting.
The three childhood friends, Lucie, Elisa, and Juliette garnered a deep understanding of classical music and orchestration while attending conservatory in their native France together. They added that depth to pop music on 2016’s En attendant l’album by reimagining some of the biggest smashes in recent memory with a backdrop of cello and organic percussion. Following the international success of the breakthrough online hit “Summer 2015,” L.E.J.opened up for Pharrell and sold 200,000 albums in less than three months.
