The Skins Share New Single Feat D.R.A.M. | EP Coming Early December
Post-race, post-gender, post-sexual orientation, and post-genre mavericks The Skins premiere their new single “Bury Me” [featuringD.R.A.M.] today. Listen to it HERE.
It’s available for purchase HERE via American / Republic Records.
“Bury Me” heralds the arrival of a revolutionary new sound from Brooklyn, NY. The quintet shakes up the very meaning of alternative with an R&B bounce, punk attitude, and indie snarl punctuated by an incendiary guest spot from none other than D.R.A.M. on the track.
However, “Bury Me” is just a taste of what’s to come from the group whose debut EP will be arriving this December. It’s the beginning of something very special for The Skins and 21st century music at large. Welcome Genre Z.
Stirring up critical excitement, NY Mag’s “The Cut” recently dubbed The Skins, “Brooklyn’s Best Rock Band” in an in-depth feature. They’ve been quietly and diligently working towards that title since 2012. Comprised of three siblings—Bay Li [lead vocals], Kaya Nico [vocals, bass], and Reef Cole [drums]—and two friends who became “family” Daisy Spencer [guitar] and Russ Chell [guitar, synth], ranging from the ages of 17 to 24, the group first met in school. They started jamming together, immersing themselves in the music. Bay Li proudly recalls ditching her high school graduation to go on tour with The Heavy during those early days. A year later, they made their SXSW debut in 2013 and caught the attention of Republic Records. The group spent the next two years cutting their teeth on the road with the likes of Albert Hammond Jr. and Jake Bugg and further honing a singular style.
Stay tuned for more very soon!
