The new album is Johnson’s first since 2013. “This album shares what has been on my mind during the past year or so,” says Johnson. “A year in which I sailed through the North Atlantic Gyre for a documentary about plastic pollution in the ocean. A year in which Trump was elected as the President of the United States. A year in which I camped, surfed, got stitches, explored, dreamed, shared time and endless conversations with my family and friends...all of which inspired these songs. I usually make sketches of the songs first then set up a time to actually record the album. This time around the original sketches became the final versions. I didn’t want to lose any of the spirit that a song has in its rawest form.” To finish out the record Johnson called upon producer Robbie Lackritz (Feist, Bahamas), along with his longtime band mates to play on a few of the tracks.

Johnson will return to the road for fall tour dates, following a successful sold-out summer tour. Tour stops include the Southeastern US, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. Fall dates kick off September 27th in Virginia Beach, VA. Complete list of tour dates below. In conjunction with the upcoming tour of the Southeastern US, Johnson will be directing funds to relief efforts in the impacted areas from the recent Hurricanes.

ABOUT BRUSHFIRE RECORDS
Brushfire Records was born in 2002 at The Mango Tree studio in Hawaii when Jack Johnson along with longtime friend Emmett Malloy, wanted to create their own record label to put out the soundtracks for surf films they had been making under The Moonshine Conspiracy banner. The Moonshine Conspiracy, a surf film collaborative now known as Woodshed Films, was formed by Jack Johnson and Emmett Malloy in 1998 during the creation of their renowned surf film Thicker Than Water. Brushfire Records not only gave them the opportunity to release music from their surf films but to release Jack’s music as well as connect and support other musicians, artists and friends who’s work they liked and respected. In its fourteen years, Brushfire has since moved to Los Angeles where they have custom-built their own solar powered studio, The Solar Powered Plastic Plant, while continuing to release new music and films.
