New York, NY (May 13, 2019) – On Sunday, May 12, Artists Den, a critically acclaimed television and music series best known for presenting intimate concerts by extraordinary artists in non-traditional settings, presented a secret concert event – James Bay: Live from the Artists Den – as the first installment of their 2019 Spring Series.

The exclusive concert featuring James Bay taped at the iconic, newly renovated Webster Hall in New York City, and will air at a later date during Season 13 of Live from the Artists Den on American Public Television.

GRAMMY Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and artist, James Bay performed live for an audience of more than 700 fans, captivating the room with anthemic hits including “Let It Go” and “Hold Back The River” as well as new single “Bad” and recent release “Peer Pressure” featuring Julia Michaels, from his brand new EP, Oh My Messy Mind-released on Friday, May 10. Prior to performing, Bay participated in an intimate chat moderated by Billboard’s Editorial Director Hannah Karp. The event was sponsored by timepiece maker Vacheron Constantin.

Artists Den events are free and invitation-only. General Admission audience members were randomly selected through a ticket sweepstakes, available exclusively via the Artists Den mailing list. Unlike other televised music series, Live from the Artists Den breaks away from the confines of a conventional studio set by unveiling new, unexpected venues for each concert, with the venue serving as the co-star alongside each featured artist. Audience members were surprised with the reveal of Webster Hall as the venue just days prior to the event.

BSE Global and The Bowery Presents, AEG Presents’ regional partner, acquired the operating rights and assets to Webster Hall in February 2017 and closed later that year for a comprehensive renovation. Webster Hall re-opened on April 26, 2019 revealing a transformation that preserved the iconic features of the venue, while modernizing it to meet today’s entertainment and guest experience standards.

Webster Hall, which has operated as a venue since 1886, has undergone several waves of transformation throughout the past century. In the 1920’s, Webster Hall notoriously held masquerade balls and was nicknamed the “Devil’s Playhouse.” RCA Records purchased Webster Hall in the 1950’s and renovated the venue to include a state-of-the-art acoustically treated ballroom.

Beginning in the 1980’s, Webster Hall reemerged as “The Ritz,” hosting artists such as Eric Clapton with Keith Richards, U2, Tina Turner, The Beastie Boys, The Pretenders, Prince, Sting, Metallica, Aerosmith, KISS, B.B. King and Guns N’ Roses. In 2004, The Bowery Presents began booking Webster Hall with artists including LCD Soundsystem, The National, Modest Mouse, John Mayer and Keith Urban, presenting more than 1,000 shows over 10 years.

VIP guests in attendance included Mark Lieberman (Founder and CEO, Artists Den), Aldis Hodge (Actor, What Men Want), Leslie Kobrin (President of the Americas, Vacheron Constantin), Avery Lipman (Founder & President, Republic Records), Ryan Lofthouse (Artist Manager, Closer Artists), Justin Petzschke (Model), Rhys Pickering (YouTuber / Model) and more.
