Blue Raincoat Artists management client Nova Twins and Reservoir/Blue Raincoat Music publishing client Self Esteem have been named to the 2022 Hyundai Mercury Prize ‘Album Of The Year’ Shortlist. The Nova Twins have been nominated for their album Supernova, and Self Esteem has been nominated for album Prioritise Pleasure.

Pop-punk duo Nova Twin’s second album Supernova was released in June 2022. The Guardian praised the album, noting, “The genre-splicing pair’s sharp, concise songwriting makes for a mindblowing blast of distorted noise–pop–and destroys the narrative about who gets to make rock music.”

Singer-songwriter SELF ESTEEM’s second solo album Prioritise Pleasure was released in October 2021. The album received wide praise, with NME calling the release, “Assured and unapologetic, charged with a dark, smirking wit that’s impossible to turn away from, and achieves an incredibly impressive feat: not only does Self Esteem detail the fear, uneasiness and anger of being a woman – keys clutched between our fists – but also manages to make us laugh at the sheer absurdity of being forced to navigate a world that has, quite unbelievably, normalised misogyny.”

The winner of the 2022 Hyundai Mercury Prize ‘Album of the Year’ award will be announced on September 8. See the full shortlist.
