Rihanna trumps The Beatles' US singles chart record

Rihanna now has the second highest amount of weeks spent at No.1 on the US singles chart.

The singer's track 'Work' has racked up a ninth week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

This means that the Barbados star has accumulated a total of 60 weeks at No.1 in the US.

As a result, Rihanna has now bypassed The Beatles to become the artist with the second highest amount of weeks spent at No.1.

She still has some way to catch up with the record-holder Mariah Carey though, who has spent a massive 79 weeks at No.1 in the US.
