Rihanna premieres distressing new music video

Rihanna has unveiled her distressing video for new single, 'Man Down'.

It premiered last night, May 31, on BET's 106 & Park and deals with some very dark subject matter. The video begins at the end, with a man getting shot in a crowded train station and then the narrative goes back to the start to become linear, showing the events that preceded the shooting.

Tweeting to her fans last night following the video's debut, Rihanna wrote:

"Thank you for the amazing response on ManDownVideo I love you guys, and I love that u GOT IT!!!"

She also wrote a message that explained the context of the visuals, which read:

"Young girls/women all over the world...we are a lot of things! We're strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable, and sometimes our innocence can cause us to be naïve! We always think it could NEVER be us, but in reality, it can happen to ANY of us! So ladies be careful and #listentoyomama"
