Rihanna has been named as the biggest selling musician in terms of digital sales.

The superstar singer has sold 47.5m downloads over the course of her career, according to data collated by Nielsen SoundScan.

It means she beat off competition from Black Eyed Peas and Eminem, who have sold 42.4m and 42.2m downloads in total respectively.

Lady Gaga meanwhile came fourth on the list with 42.08m downloads.

It's not all good news for Rihanna however. Despite dominating the artist list, none of her songs were named in the top ten best selling digital singles, with Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling' coming out trumps with sales of 7.68m.
