Rihanna: "I never want to compromise my art"

Rihanna has opened on music as an art form and reiterated that she will never "compromise" her work.

The singer's music has often be criticised by some sections of the public for its overtly raunchy nature, but speaking to BBC Breakfast, Rihanna stated that she will never change her art to satisfy other people.

She added that whilst society may not always deem her work to be suitable, it most certainly passes her own tests. She said:

"Music is art for me. I really just want to make a great song, so when I make a video it has to stay true to the song. I never want to compromise my art. It may offend some people, it might not be perfect for society's standards, but it's OK for me."

As previously reported, Rihanna's former bishop back in Barbados recently criticised the singer's lifestyle and says that the island is rooting for her to change her ways.
